Q. How do I know
my level? Do you have placement tests?
- We do not have placement
tests. We ask prospective students to self-assess their levels by
visiting the course description page available on our website. The
links to the course description pages are available at
http://www.languagedoor.com/adults/program_adults.html.
You can also stop by at one of our centers to take a look at the
actual books used in our classes.
-
Q. What’s
the difference between Beginning/Intermediate A, B, C and D?
- They are all different
levels. Beginning A is for those who have never studied the language
before, or those who have had instruction before but would like to
start from scratch. Please refer to the course description page
(links available at
http://www.languagedoor.com/adults/program_adults.html)
regarding what is covered in each level.
-
Q. Can I sit in
the class before signing up?
- Unfortunately we do not
allow sitting in or auditing. We offer small classes and it would be
disruptive to have visitors in the classes.
-
Q. How do I sign
up?
Thank you for your interest
in our classes. To sign up for a class, you need to complete
payment. We do not reserve your spot in class until the payment is
completed. Beginning classes are especially popular, so we recommend
that you try to sign up as soon as you know that you would like to
enroll. You can call us, mail us a check or stop by to complete
payment. We do not accept online payment at this moment.
-
Q. Can I pay a
part of the fees to reserve my spot?
Sorry, all the fees need to
be paid in full in order for us to reserve your spot.
Q. What is your
age limit?
- We currently offer classes only
for adults. However, there is no specific age limit, and we have had
some adolescents in our classes. As long as they are OK with
studying with adults, they can join our classes.
-
Q. Do you offer
private lessons?
- Please contact your nearest
school location for information about private lessons and their
costs.
-
Q. What’s
your refund policy?
- For any reasons, students
are entitled to a refund if they let us know they want to withdraw from
our classes within 24 hours after their first lesson. Unfortunately
we do not make any arrangements for a refund if a student withdraws
from class any later than that.
-
Q. What’s
the difference between Language Door and other language learning
institutions?
- It is difficult to point
out the differences, but here are the facts to consider when you
look for a right language school for you:
Class
sizes?
・Language
Door offers very small class size, which varies from two to eight
students per class with the average of four students.
How long the classes are and how often they meet?
・Currently
all our classes meet once a week for an hour and a half for eight
weeks (which is perfect for working adults). In general colleges
offer more intensive classes.
When classes are held?
・We
schedule classes on weekday evenings
after 6pm (there are two time
slots, one at 6:15-7:45pm and the other 8-9:30pm) and some on
Sundays during the daytime, considering the convenience of working
adults. We offer classes all year around; there are six terms of
eight weeks each per year.
Price?
・Language
Door offers very reasonable prices. Please visit our price
information page for details.
Teachers?
・Our
instructors are native or native level speakers of the target
language, who are eager to share their knowledge of the language and
culture.
-
Q. Do you issue
I-20 for international students?
- Unfortunately not.
-
Q. Is Language
Door accredited?
- Unfortunately we do not
offer transferable credits to colleges. However, we can issue a proof letter that you have taken
classes with us, or a certificate of completion for reimbursement or other purposes.
